Venezolanos everywhere 😃
April 16, 2018
Okay whew, I have time today! So these past weeks have been super awesome! From last week:
We were over at the bishops house (and the sister says she doesn´t cook well but she really does cook well) And she gave us our soups and she told Elder Day, you have the honor to eat the chicken foot! And so my companion looked at it was like, I am not able to eat this. Sorry, But I went, Hey I love the Pata de pollo. And so, I ate it, or more of gnawed on it because it is really hard and messy to eat. Super strange but cooked on a grill is more strange. So yummy!

Then we were a little early to a lunch so we stopped by that sketchy park and took some pictures there. Here is one of Elder Day, king of Samanes hehe.

What it feels like to be a gringo here.

Ok story time.
A sister Farfán showed us that she had a referral for us. She said he is from Venezuela, and that he had recently moved here to Samanes. So we went! With Sister Farfán! We got there, and he knew the sister and was like, I assume you come with knowledge? I gave the affirmation and said yep things about god and that sort of stuff. He was super excited. His name is Pedro! So we got in and there was nothing in the house besides some cheetos. and a guitar. and us. So we sat on the floor, grabbed the guitar, and he poured us some cheetos. We explained who is God, with the guitar, because, guess what we have been doing recently? Practicing guitar! So my companion showed him how although the guitar is one guitar, is has 6 different strings that are separate individual strings, but they work together in one purpose to make a wonderful harmony, just like the godhead. So we set the next appointment.
The next time, we went and he said, I come with a bit of news that might sound a little harsh. He talked with basically all his friends and family about that he had had a lesson with us. And what did the people say? 90 or 80 percent of the people, family and friends, told him to stay away for all sorts of reasons. But that did not deter him a bit. He came back and related us a story from when he was in other churches and he just felt something was missing, a little dark. But with us, he feels something. Something that he has been searching for a long time. Something like light he said. Right now, he has work, in the mornings on Sunday. So he won´t be able to come to church. But he told us. “I feel that it is extremely important that I accompany you guys to the chapel” “I will find a way so that I can do that” We hardly even asked him about coming to church, only that we do and that we would like him to come, and he was already really hyped basically. His faith his really strong and he is going to be reading the book of mormon in these days. We will be visiting him tonight.
There was an interesting experiencia when we had planned for emergencies last week.
We received a call from the sister missionaries in a sector more south than ours. “Elders, someone is in our house, a door slammed really hard upstair when we entered, there must be someone inside” We were with a member who has a car, so with a box of pizza and some soda, we drove over to their house, calling the other leaders on the way. They told us where their house was and! We couldn´t find it for a while, partly because the sisters were not responding to their cell. Meanwhile, presidente called them and said, “Go in” and they went “But no why” He responded ” Go in” And they went in and it was just the wind. After they told us that we had them give us better directions. And there we found the house and gave them the pizza and soda. They were super grateful. 😀
Something exciting but not dangerous! That is the best!
Ok, thanks for reading my email for the past weeks!
Have fun and make this week a good one!
