Luis and The Lasso Family!
May 13, 2019
This week was very fun! The first thing you should know is that this is the first week in the 6 week change so that means that I should guaranteed to be here in this ward for 6 more weeks. The mission president having missionary’s flights sometimes on the 2 year mark or on the 6 week cycle mark. So really I am starting to realize that stuff is still in the air as far as when I am going to go home for sure. But for the meantime, I am enjoying being here in this ward.
Elder Brinkman really is super awesome. We are teaching so many people and having so many miracles. The difficult part, like my whole mission has been, is setting appointments that don’t fall through. So enough with mission stuff and onto the real stuff / real people.
So Joselyn brought a friend named Luis, and he has gone to church 2 or three times now. And we finally were able to meet with him to talk about the gospel! After hearing about the restoration, he decided that he wants to prepare to be baptized on June 15th! We are very happy for him!Every time we go to Samanes 5 with a member coming along it seems to rain, so that was fun walking in the rain. I had my umbrella but my companion didn’t because his broke. But rainy season should be over now so we probably wont have many problems now!
Here is a dog that looks like the dog we used to have, Maggie. He even has a white spot on his chest just like Maggie did!

Anyway we visited the Lasso Family this week and we thought we were going to teach the Restoration but we ended up taking a pause because the dad in the family has a client who is a bishop in Guayaquil (I don’t know him btw) but his wife suddenly got sick and died over the course of a month. So they were talking about the plan of salvation and temples. So we taught the first part and they had a BILLION questions. So we only had time to teach that, then we went back and they had a BILLION MORE. So then we studied and studied to answer their questions and went back to teach what happens after this life and they only had 1 question. ” Where does it say that in the Bible?? ” And funny enough, the bible talks about the plan of salvation more, It was the end of the lesson. We showed them. And they read it. And we could all tell that the spirit was there because they sat back in awe and said that that makes a lot of sense. So they are absolutely awesome.
I want to share an experience I had being a district leader. So as district leader, I get to do the interview for people before getting baptized in other wards. And I met one 17 year old named Aaron, He is very converted to the gospel, when I asked him, personally, why he wanted to be baptized, he said, For salvation. He got introduced to the gospel through his girlfriend who got baptized the same day as her family. Aaron is very friendly and can make friends with anyone, he wants to serve a mission!
This morning we had a zone activity and we played volleyball! It was super fun. All the 28 missionaries in the zone were there!
Thanks for reading today! Have a good week!
