We worked hard and it was worth it!

This week did not include any new foods or anything but I was about to go on an companionship exchange this Thursday over in Orquídeas again. I can see my Spanish getting better and better. Although I don’t speak very fast, I have worked really hard to be able to say complex ideas. Elder Vite, our Zone Leader, said that when I do talk, it is always something that the investigators over there needed to hear. I know that that is power given by the Holy Ghost. Because, sincerely, I don’t know how I am remembering so many of the words that I sometimes only looked at the definition for a split second.
Wow! We worked so hard to get Gabriel baptized this week. And it paid off! We were pushing, making sure that Gabriel and his Mother, Carla would be present for the Interview, Baptism, and The Confirmation of Gabriel. After the interview, the mom relayed, “now remember Gabriel, you cannot drink coffee.” He responded, “Why? It´s delicious!” Surprising, everyone, Elder Tafur told him, no, you’re not allowed. “Ah OK”, he realized. The baptism was super powerful. I gave the only message before the baptism. I saw Gabriel perk up and listen to part of the message and the people there were a little surprised how far I have come learning Spanish. I am continuing learning always.

When people criticize others or lay down the law at others and then they themselves don’t follow the said guidance, I am astounded. I have seen that this week. It has driven me to not complain about something we must do, but to search the good in why we do it. For example, when we are told that we need to clean up our language, as far as sayings and stuff, it is probably because it is becoming a problem among missionaries.
I love Spanish, I love these people, they are incredibly valuable. Their determination is above what I have seen before my mission.
I have also seen, those who read the Book of Mormon, at least one verse a day, are blessed higher than they were before. I plead with everyone who reads this to read and ponder what is there, what is plain to see in the Book of Mormon and to act upon it.
