Spiritual Moments!
March 11, 2019
I feel like I always start off something like “This week has been super great”. But I hope we all look back on our week grateful for everything that has happened. If not then it will just seem kind of dark when we look back at things. Dane made me think of that when he sent me this quote:
Some of the spiritual experiences are with some really cool people.
1. Familia Espinoza
We visited this family to teach the plan of salvation. And we get close to the end of the lesson and the dad gets quiet. My comp asked him if he had a question or something and Armando said he felt something. So we read with him a scripture about the Holy Ghost and he said that he felt peace when he learned about the whole plan of salvation. Something clicked and everything just made sense. That Saturday, we visited with the bishop and they all had a really great time talking and the bishop just really testified of the importance of the gospel. Later, this past Sunday they all went to church and loved it. Normally the little kids never want to be separated from their parents to go to nursery. But their 2 year old stayed and was super happy. The lesson was inspired in Elders Quorum everything that he needed to hear about the plan of salvation and about how to receive personal revelation!
2. Familia Garcia y Bustamante
We have been teaching some Venezuelans and they came to church, they came in normal clothes so they felt a little strange but headed out saying that next time they would for sure show up a little more prepared hehe. But they are reading the Book of Mormon like crazy. So we are super happy how much they are progressing ❤.
3. Carol
We went to visit Carol with Richard, who got baptized the past week and Carol was explaining how she doesn’t want to get close to any church because she sees all the bad stuff pastors and church people do. She is super honest with us. That is why she is going to progress quite a bit I believe.
4. Celso
Remember the guy that talked to us in the street about the Book of Mormon and how he wanted to read one? He is reading a whole bunch of it. We committed him to church and put a baptismal date and he went to church and he loved it! We are going to do a family home evening with a college professor.
This is what many of the houses look like
Us doing planning for people with a “whiteboard” we found next door that they were going to throw away.
Those were the super awesome ones and here is a weird one.
We visited a guy who the missionaries had visited 5 years before and we are talking to him and he says that he doesn’t want to stop breaking the Word of Wisdom because he likes it too much. So we give him a scripture to read and it makes him feel the Godly guilt and humility. But we came across him and his friend who was high on drugs that makes him talk and talk and talk. So asks us to share a scripture with him and he has a bunch of questions and we answer them and randomly he says, “Let’s make some french fries!” So went to their house and made some, super delicious fries. Basically we came to know these three friends who don’t have a purpose in life. One speaks English and is a multimedia engineer, how cool is that? So we headed out pretty quickly before anything else weird happened. What a good week though huh?
Moroni 8:30 Farewell, my son, until I shall write unto you, or shall meet you again. Amen.
