Jessica got baptized! We have started 100 horas.

March 19, 2018
Hey everyone!

Hey what do you call the day when we celebrate all the Elders in the world? Elder Day! That is every day with my companion!

It has begun. 100 horas. The week of SACRIFICE. To remind everyone, we wake at 5:30 and sleep at 10:30. We leave to preach at 7 in the morning. Currently, I am already pretty tired, and we are only on day two! But ya it is fine, but it just so happens there are a couple activities that we shall be going to this week. Like a Multi-zone Conference, and District Meeting. So really it is not so bad. This Saturday, a family history activity shall come to pass. So we are inviting as many people as we can to this activity. Something that I have seen about the attitude between the previous 100 horas and now, is that the zone is thinking a bit smarter on how to find people that will stay in the gospel, not just random people off the street. When converts are surrounded by good friends, who they have known for a while, oh, how strong they are. But if they are isolated, boom, they leave, because who wouldn’t if you feel isolated. So that is the change in focus of the Zone, which is like 20ish missionaries.
Ok there is the news for what is going to happen. This past week we had a baptism! Jessica got baptized!! And she asked me to baptize her and to confirm her the next day! Although there weren’t too many people that came to the baptismal service, it was super powerful. This week especially was spiritual for all of us because she set in concrete her testimony of the Book of Mormon, of baptism, of the gospel of Jesucristo. She has a gift to read some verses from the scriptures and she can explain it as if she had been studying that chapter since she was 10. Her ability to explain is very exact. A couple weeks ago, with Elder Tafur, I promised Hermana Jessica that I would get her a Bible that isn’t from the Jehovah´s witnesses, because that is what they have in the house. So I got up after she shared her rock solid testimony, and explained when I have just written and gave here the bible that I obtained through a member that goes to the temple. The smile she shined was so bright as she saw the bible, and as I carefully handed it to her. The day before, was her birthday, her Papi (dad-ish, it´s complicated) said he would come if god permits. He came to the baptism. After the baptism, I was cleaning up some of the materials and the Font, and they all disappeared. I grabbed my companion as a ran for the door and I said Wait! I forgot to say goodbye ( I think I actually said I forgot to greet you all hehe) and we all got to shake hands and say goodnight for that night.
With all of what happened in the past week, people that said that they would come, the only investigator that came was Mariuxi, who now is coming every week, which is awesome!! I was a little nervous because I had never confirmed someone a member before. But with the power of the Priesthood, and with the gift of tongues, it was really powerful, the whole thing wasn’t flawless, but the spirit was strong in that moment.

Also I got a Book of Mormon in Kichwa! I will be trying to learn that as well here!
We did some service with Joselin and her mom. We came with José and Bryan Mendoza. Elder Day knows how to put down plaster to cover holes in walls!
Well muchas thanks everyone!
Hasta later!
Elder Wilhelm
