The Espinoza Family got baptized! And the Parable of the dirty shirt.

April 1, 2019

Props! I would love to give a shout out to the Ordoñez Family and to a Valverde family in particular because they help us so much in the missionary work. One of the quotes that people say and that I hear from mom is that in the ward there is always around 10 families that do 90 percent of the work in the ward. These families are awesome!

The Espinoza Family got Baptized! The night of the interview they gave us pizza! A lot of Pizza! Anyway Armando had been having doubts about if he was going to get baptized or not caused by nervousness, all the way until 30 minutes before the baptism. But God answers prayers so Armando and his daughter Amy got baptized! He is so excited to continue in the gospel. You could see it on his face.

From the Figueroa Family, Miguel invited us over to do a Family Home Evening and we didn’t do anything, we just participated in their own FHE. It was so cool to see them do that for one of the first times ever by themselves!

We ate lunch at the bishop’s house and they made us Yapingacho. Sooo good. Peanut sauce on mashed potatoes with eggs and sausages for lunch. Super awesome. Then they gave us ice cream, but at the same time we wanted to surprise the bishops family by making Oreo Milkshakes! Thanks to Elder Leal and Elder Peery we could get those done and they were Delicious. We did this with the goal in mind to be more on the good side of the bishop so he can help us out more. He is a funny guy who loves food. (also served a mission in Quito BTW)

A Smelly Situation with a Sweet ending. Near the bishops house, there is a little little town called San Nicolás (yes, just like Saint Nicholas) And we were walking into go visit someone. One of the skinnier dogs always gets excited when we come, and puts is paws up on us. Which usually is not a problem. But… this time, it had just barely stepped in some mud! Within a couple seconds I could smell it; it stank, bad. So that poopy crap got all over my white shirt. We had just sat down to say the prayer. In my mind, “What am I going to do??” So I just adjusted my tie so the poop didn’t get on to it and we finished what we were teaching. And we started calling everyone who lived close, active or less active, anybody. One lady said she had left home, but she was on the home phone. That made me laugh pretty hard. I got to the point where I would just say “Hello, I have poop all over my shirt, can you help me to clean my shirt??” A lady answered, who said of course. We hopped on a bus and went and she hadn’t gone to church in a long time, years ago. Her name is Marjorie. She said that she wants to go church now. We are going to eat lunches at her house one day a week so her husband can listen to the lessons. Although she couldn’t go to church this week we are very exited for her. A different day we went back to the lady in San Nicolas, and we found her husband too! They both are so awesome and are willing to go to church! Two families affected by one poopy shirt!
