Ukulele y Almost a 1-week-baptism
August 13, 2018
Okay hello!
This week started off with a Ukulele, borrowed from Hermana Plata. I learned how to play Count Your Many Blessings *roughly*
And last week we got to know the son of the Brother Madrigal. He, the son, had been living in Quito, far a way, for quite a while and he brought him here! So of course, brought him to church and we went and talked with him about the lessons. His name is Juan Andres. He is 12 years old.
After the first lesson we gave him to read Moroni 10:3-5. The next time we came back, we asked if he had read the section and he said he had, and explained, that when he had gone to bed that night, he prayed know if these things are true and that he had a dream while he slept. In his dream, he didn’t remember so much about what happened rather that he felt that this church is true, that these things are true.
So we continued to teach him and he had many questions especially about the plan of salvation! He is super receptive. The we got a call from his dad and the bishop saying that they wanted to change the baptismal date to the 11th, Saturday. We were on board so we finished teaching him the lessons and he had the interview. All was going to plan. Pero, we got a call saying that there might be some legal issues if we were to continue with the baptism right now. So the baptism didn’t come to pass. yet. Hehe, he will get baptized just not right now, because he is waiting on some legal papers to settle down first. Within a month or two. But it has been a miracle to see a testimony like his grow so fast in such a little time and to see how much that has and will impact his future.
As far as the other Families, there is a wonderful family called the Salazar Family and the dad, Lisandro, is the only nonmember there and he wants to get baptized this Saturday! He has 3 jobs in the week so sometimes it is hard to fit in visits with his schedule but every time we visit he surprises us with what he has done to advance himself towards baptism and going to church and to follow the commandments.
Another cool experience early in the week was a visit with someone named Andrea, she is 25ish years old and almost literally the whole ward wants to talk with her because she went to a Family Home Evening and she really had a good experience there. We had been hearing about her but never found her, with her schedule and all. So after one of her friends (and his girlfriend), helped us in a lesson with Juan Andres, we went out to find her. And on the way, boom! There she was taking her dog for a walk. So we asked if we could share something 5 minutes or so. We shared about who we were and she shared about her family and her beliefs (meanwhile her dog was running around bothering the neighbors Hehe ¡Qué risa!) but anyway she is really receptive too! We shall visit her tonight!
Last week when we were looking for people in the directory, we happened to cross paths with a sister that has been less active for a while and we didn’t know where her house was. We asked if we could visit. When we visited, we found that she has a daughter named Fiorella. She had had all of the lessons from the missionaries like 3 times. But she is gone for the week so in 2 weeks you’ll hear more about her!
